The Cold Spring Harbor Synthetic Biology Summer Course was described as a strong experimental catalyst in a recent special topic about RNA Synthetic Biology. In the editorial, Justin Gallivan discussed the RNA project led by Julius Lucks (instructor) and Melissa Takahashi (teaching assistant).
Moreover, the experiments are readily accessible to the nonexpert. I had the privilege of spending several days at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Course in Synthetic Biology as these experiments were getting off the ground and can attest that the students (now coauthors) went from pipetman boot camp to producing results in very short order.
