One of the great things about the SynBio course is being next to one of the founders of molecular biology, Jim Watson. Recently Dr. Watson stopped by the course to check out what was going on. We had an amazing conversation about the origins of molecular biology and the future of synthetic biology. Dr. Watson also shared some of his stories about the discovery of the double helix, who his scientific heroes are, and what it was like to do science in Cambridge. It was a magical experience for all of us, especially since in many ways SynBio is the next evolution of molecular biology. Dr. Watson ended the conversation by saying that courses like the SynBio course were one of the very special things about CSHL.
